Africans in America
A report written about African slavery in American for fourth grade history. I'm not really sure if I understood what "separate but equal" meant. It sure seems like I thought it was something good that people were fighting for.
Airbag Safety '99
Research paper written for nineth-grade English.
Alexander Graham Bell
Report written in the fourth-grade about Alexander Graham Bell.
The Autobiography of Michael Arnold (August 21, 2000)
For eleventh-grade history we were required to write an autobiography. This is my rather boring attempt.
The Boxcar Children
A report I wrote about The Boxcar Children back in second or third grade.
Christmas in Germany and Sweden
Report written in third-grade about Christmas celebrations in Germay and Sweden. Very bad fact checking here.
Daniel Boone Boy Hunter
A report written in the third-grade about Daniel Boone.
"Dover Beach": Understanding Meaning Through Symbols and Ideas
Funny thing; I turned this paper in for my Honor English 236 class. What's sad is that that was the second time I'd used the essay. I originally wrote this essay for my 12th grade English class at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama. Recently I turned this essay in again (for the 3rd time!) in my Honors English 216 class. I got an A in High School, a B+ in 236, and a B- in 216. Not bad for an essay that's already three years old!
Deutsch Brief Eins
Letter written in the tenth-grade to my penpal in Germany.
De Eetgewoontes jonge Nederlanders en jonge Amerikanen
Back in 2009 at my Dutch class in Amsterdam we were assigend to write a paper compairing and contrasting the eating habits of our home country to that of the Dutch.
Analysation of Chapter Six in "Cannibals All!"
I wrote this essay for DB's class. Basically I was just writing some ramblings down on paper. This isn't one of my best essays.
Die Geschikte von Phillip
A short play written for German 2 based off the story of Phillip from Struwwelpeter.
Laura Wingfield's Relationships in The Glass Menagerie
This was also written for my English 102 class. Not the best essay in the world, but I'm just including it for completeness. (The play's not that bad either. I'd recommend watching or reading it.)
Biblical Christian Similitude and the effects of Contemporary Victorian Ideals in Christina Rossetti's "Goblin Market"
This was my final paper for English 216. This essay's not that bad, but Dr. V didn't like it. The essay could definitely be better, but by this point it had been so long since I'd been in liberal arts mode I found it really hard to write about literature.
Hyper-Political Correctness in "There was Once"
This is a really cool essay I wrote for English 102. It makes for a pretty good persuasive essay, but could also be used as a literary analysis essay.
Mijn Thuisstad: Huntsville, Alabama
Another essay from my Dutch classes in Amsterdam. We were suposed to write about our favourite city, but I couldn't decide which city to write about, so I decided to write home my hometown instead.
Why?: English Spelling Reform
I wrote this for my English 101 class. It's a subject that I'm really interested in.
Rules of the Club-House
Wow. I was a little Nazi. I can't believe the kids on the street took me seriously. "Have a fun and safe time!"
The 60s and 70s Decades
Q&A required for eleventh grade History.
Symbolism and Meaning of "A Poison Tree"
This was the first essay I had to write for my Honors English 216 class (British Literature from 1800 and 1900s). I hated that class so much. This is probably one of the worst essays I've ever written. I started writing two other essays before this one but couldn't get anywhere on them. Finally, I was able to write something on this poem, not much, but enough to get a grade.
Technological Advances in the Civil War still used Today
Eighth-grade essay on Civil War technology. I find it amazing how government shooling had convinced me that grenades and other advanced methods of murdering people were good things.
Comparative Analysis of the German and American Business Cultures
This is the last essay of my college career, written during December of 2006. It's a brief essay about the German and American business cultures. Two two books I read for this essay (listed in the Works Referenced section of the essay were both very good reads and very interested. I will definitely be reading more about cultures in the future.
