- Die von Gott gesandten Engel
- Poem I wrote for my mother for Christmas of 2006. Once again I wrote in German, I'm not quit sure why. That just seams to be a trend lately. I've provided an English translation which is alright, but I feal a lot of the poem is lost in the translation. So, I guess what I'm saying is "learn German and you'll get a lot more out of the poem".
- Four Little Monsters
- A poem recently (June 2011) found whilst going through some old boxes. I believe this was written in either eighth or tenth grade and was somewhat related to a writing assignment Matthew or Jason was doing.
- Gedicht
- The first poem I've written in German. Sadly it's a rather dark poem... O well. This poem was written on November 2nd, 2006 in GBA 490 when I probably should have been paying attention to the lecture.
- Ich, I, Ik
- A poem about the languages that are so much a part of me and continue to push me forwards in life. Written in September of 2003 at The University of Alabama.
- Introspection; a prayer to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ
- A very personal and powerful poem I wrote back in 2007. The Lord did answer my prayer in July of 2010 and led me again as one of his flock. Thanks be to God!
- Ja, Alabama!
- My translation of The University of Alabama's fight song into German. Roll Tide!
- Klagenfurt
- A little poem written on April 20th, 2010 on reflection of my time in Austria.
- Knowledge: Untamed Power
- I wrote this poem my senior year of high school. I think it's pretty good. Old fashioned, maybe, but good. It's too bad the Marr's Field Journal didn't think so...
- Love's Folly
- Written between March 26th, 2010 and May 12th, 2010 after the usual bouts of thinking about my seemingly perpetual singleness.
- National Anthem of Marmanold
- For anyone who's every wondered where I got the name Marmanold from, this should begin to answer your question. Marmanold (more formally known as the United States of the Kingdom of Marmanold) is a monarchail, conservative, utopia that exist in my mind. I am King Michael the Great of Marmanold. The idea of Marmanold came into existance sometime in Mrs. Bevel's 7th grade study hall. I was playing around with ways to combine my first and last name to make a cool name. I was messing around with Michnold and then, suddenly as if out of nowhere, the word Marmanold came to my mind. The rest is history...
- O' my Alabama
- Written: 4. July 2005 in Augburg, Germany. This poem represents my history with my lovely State of Alabama. How she took me as a child without a home, accepted me as her own, raised me, educated me, showed me the world, and continues to allow me to plant my feet on her rock. Alabama is truely my anchor in this crazy world. Not matter where I am or what I become I will always be an Alabamian. May my Sweet Home Alabama always remain the source of my strength and the pride of my heart!
- Schönes Heim Alabama
- Back in 2004 I made a not too great translation of "Sweet Home Alabama". It was the best I could do with the level of German I had obtained at that point. In January of 2007 I finally got aroud to making a better German translation. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's much better than the last one. (I've left to pervious translation for comparison.
- Softly as the Wind Blows
- This is another poem that was written sometime during high school. I'm not really sure why I wrote this poem. I think I was trying the write a sort of love poem. I wouldn't put too much meaning into it. I wasn't thinking too deeply about it.
- A Stirring in my Soul
- This poem was written shortly after "the senior quote incident". It was originally written in Reformd English; the first poem ever to written that way.
- The River Flows
- Another poem found whilst unpacking some boxes in June 2011. This poem was written May 8, 2001 which would have been just days before completing my junior year of high school.
- Urban Nature
- I wrote this in the eleventh grade in Mrs. Moore's class. She made us go outside and "Get in touch with nature and write a poem." Well... this is what she got.
- The Wanderer's Lament
- Another spur of the moment poem written in a couple of minutes sitting in my livingroom in Amsterdam on May 10th, 2008. The poem's based off my frustrations living abroad. I want to be home, but at the same time I don't.
- When?
- I wrote this during my sophomore year of high school in the morning before school. It's a religious poem that sounded much better when I was younger, but it still holds a lot of meaning for me. I was amazed that I was even thinking like this when I was 16.
